Although we do not know the specific topics of the upcoming provincial education review, it is our understanding that the following areas will be reviewed:
- School Board Amalgamation
- Taxation Authority
- School Funding
The provincial government has announced that the review will start in January of 2019 and will involve an extensive consultation period of at least six months.
We as a Board wish to discuss with you the importance of local voice and local choice as the Province considers changes to the school system. We look forward to meeting with you on February 19, 2019.
In preparation for the meeting, attached is some background information provided by the Manitoba School Boards Association in regards to the discussion topics.
