The Province and MVSD continue to work together to move forward with the replacement of the DRCSS Air Handling Units (AHUs) with priority given to the AHU that is currently not operational. This is a large-scale project, and the required background work is taking place to ensure that all the AHU’s will be replaced in due course. This will not affect the start of school as classes will be scheduled for areas where ventilation is adequate, similar to the final semester of last year.
Also, in our annual inspections of our boiler systems, we were made aware of repairs required to the system at the DRCSS. Due to the age of the equipment, new replacements will need to be installed and this work will be coordinated with the work on the AHU’s. As the heating season is soon approaching us, we are currently working on a temporary solution to provide heat until the permanent solution is in place.
